This is the method a Redditor got so tired of explaining that they wrote their own step-by-step guide, and later someone built an entire app just to avoid repeating it. It reads the same internal value the hidden Settings page uses, so it works on Galaxys that never got the official page.

  1. Turn off Auto Blocker first, or the phone may block the diagnostic menu: Settings > Security and privacy > Auto Blocker.
  2. Open the Phone app and dial *#9900#. A hidden menu called SysDump opens.
  3. Tap Run dumpstate/logcat. This takes several minutes. Let it finish.
  4. When the Dump Result popup appears, tap OK, then tap Copy to sdcard. Despite the name, the files land in internal storage.
  5. Open My Files > Internal storage > log and find the file starting with dumpstate_ followed by your model number. Unzip it if it's a .zip and open dumpstate.txt.
  6. The file is huge, so use a log viewer app or a text editor with search. Search for mSavedBatteryAsoc (case sensitive).
  7. The number after the equals sign is your battery's remaining capacity percentage. mSavedBatteryAsoc=87 means 87% health.

On recent firmware you may also find mSavedBatteryBsoh (battery state of health) in the same file. When both exist, BSOH is the value Samsung's own tools treat as the health figure, so prefer it if the two disagree by more than a point or two.

Typical daily use burns 300 to 400 cycles a year. So 350 cycles on an S23 means you're most of the way through the battery's rated life, while 350 cycles on an S25 is barely a warm-up.
