Our Hungarian partner had a team member who discovered the Brick network during their travels and recognized its potential for Budapest. Brick seamlessly integrated into their existing portfolio of companies and services, leveraging the capabilities of the established company to support the expansion of Brick in Hungary. The strategic targeting of venues, including collaborations with nationwide transportation groups, facilitated rapid access to train and rail networks, along with placements on local trams.

The Hungarian team is on a growth spree, rapidly expanding its reach across the entire nation. They've struck a strategic collaboration with the national lottery system, creating exciting prospects for station placements at various venues throughout the country including those hosting the national lottery, such as convenience stores.

Additionally, the team is exploring expansion possibilities through the national bus network, aiming to reach numerous locations outside of Budapest. This marks a shift in focus towards establishing a national footprint!

Challenges and Strategies

The partner has run into some challenges with station functionality and durability. Some of these constraints were intentionally designed to keep the stations simple, focusing on powerbank rentals and skipping bells and whistles. The market is now witnessing a rise in competition from relatively smaller companies, putting a dent in the initial first-mover advantage. 

However, Hungary has effectively leveraged its portfolio of companies to create a web of connections for a nationwide rollout. Additionally, they have engaged an agency for social media advertising and are actively exploring opportunities to collaborate with influencers, aiming to expand the local user base.

Hungary’s Future Goals

Looking ahead, our partners in Hungary are exploring the use of point-of-sale (POS) systems for rentals, enabling users to pay by tapping their physical credit cards or using digital wallets on their phones, skipping the need for the Brick app.

Their stations perform exceptionally well in shopping malls and tourist-heavy areas, shaping their future placement strategies. Quick issue resolution is a top priority in their market approach. Whether it's station, app, or venue-related, they promptly address and resolve issues. This involves direct communication with end-users through Brick HQ and contacting venues to resolve station-related concerns. While they plan to review common issues in the future, their current focus is on speedy problem-solving to maintain an active network.

The main challenge for our partner in Hungary isn't so much about building the network but about finding the best places for placement. They are dedicated to practical solutions, ensuring the network works seamlessly in different locations!
