How to Rent a Power Bank? Step-by-Step Guide
A Brick user has two options to start a rental: either download the Brick app or use our app-less web browser solution. Both are simple and allow you to have 100% battery in no time!
Renting a Brick powerbank takes under 30 seconds. Tap a payment card, scan a QR code, or open the app, and a station releases a powerbank you can return to any Brick station in the network, not just the one you took it from. There are three ways to start a rental: the Brick app, an app-less web checkout, or tap-to-pay at a payment terminal with a contactless card or mobile wallet.

How to rent a Brick powerbank?
The user has three options to start a rental:
Download the Brick app
The user can download the Brick app, create an account, and use the app to locate nearby power bank stations and rent a power bank.
Use the Brick app-less web browser solution
For those who prefer not to download the app! The user can scan the QR code on the station by using their phone's camera or a QR code scanning app, and start the rental!
Tap the card on the attached payment terminal (POS)
Since April 2024, Brick payment terminals have been rolling out across most markets, both retrofitted onto stations already in the field and built into newer ones. Where a terminal is installed, users can simply tap a payment card or phone to start a rental, no app and no account.
Rent a powerbank with the Brick App
- Download the Brick app and register with your mobile number.
- Set up your preferred payment method within the app.
- Locate a nearby Brick Station using the map function in the app.
- Once you've found a station, scan the station's QR code using the app's built-in scanner.
- The app will unlock a powerbank for you. Grab the released powerbank, connect your device, and press the side button to start charging your device.
- Press the side button on the powerbank to start charging your device.
- When you're finished with the powerbank, return it to any Brick Station to end your rental.
Rent a powerbank with app-less
- Use your phone's camera or a QR-scanner app to scan the station's QR code.
- Press the link that appears after scanning. This will open your web browser.
- On the web page, click on "Rent Now" and select your preferred payment method. Because there is no account, you enter a payment method for each app-less rental.
- Proceed to unlock a powerbank slot by following the instructions provided on the web page.
- Once the powerbank slot is unlocked, grab the released powerbank and connect it to your device.
- Press the side button on the powerbank to start charging your device.
- When you're done using the powerbank, simply return it to any Brick Station to end your rental.

Rent a Powerbank by Tapping Your Card at a Brick Station (POS)
- Locate a Brick station with a payment terminal.
- At the station, tap your contactless payment card or mobile wallet (Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc.) on the POS terminal.
- The terminal will process your payment method. Once approved, the station will automatically release a powerbank.
- Grab the released powerbank from the docking slot & start charging!
- When you're done, insert the powerbank into any Brick Station. There is no need to return to the same one. The rental ends automatically once the powerbank is docked properly.

Do I need to download an app to rent a Brick powerbank?

Where do I return a Brick powerbank?
Any Brick station in the network, not necessarily the one you rented from. The rental ends automatically once the powerbank is docked properly.
What happens if I don't return the powerbank?
If a powerbank is not returned within 5 days, Brick considers it purchased and charges the full cost of the unit, on top of whatever pay-as-you-go rental fees already accrued.
What payment methods does Brick accept?
PayPal, major credit and debit cards (Mastercard, Visa, American Express), and Apple Pay or Google Pay, both in the app and at tap-to-pay terminals.
Is tap-to-pay available at every Brick station?
Not at every station yet, but coverage is growing. Brick's payment terminals have been rolling out across most markets since April 2024 and can also be retrofitted onto stations already in the field, so a station without one today can get one later without moving or being replaced.
Do I need to create an account to use tap-to-pay?
No. Tapping a card or mobile wallet at the terminal skips the app download and account signup entirely, the same as the app-less web checkout.
